Beginners/Intermediate:

  • Exercises focused on achieving proper alignment

  • Tailored physical preparation activities for mastering handstands, including jumping into a free handstand

  • Introduction to various handstand positions 

  • Progressions and regressions tailored to the individual

  • Opportunities to experiment with movement while in a handstand

  • Learning the press up technique

  • Exploring diverse methods to enter into and exit out of a handstand

  • Strategies to improve your endurance, strength and joint health in handstands

  • Techniques for spotting

 

Intermediate/Advanced:

  • Advanced strategies for perfecting your alignment

  • Specialized physical preparation for advanced handstand techniques

  • A range of exercises designed to challenge your two-arm handstand, with a focus on isolation techniques

  • Mastery of the press up

  • Advanced techniques for building resistance and strength

  • Various spotting techniques

  • Transitioning to one-arm handstands

  • Building resistance and balance for one-arm handstand variations, including side bends and figas

Nathan Newman 

I am Nathan Newman, and my journey into the realm of invertions commenced during my exploration of martial arts and capoeira. The practice of inverting, a fundamental element in many physical disciplines, became a unifying thread that I found to be universally applicable.

My pursuit of physical culture led me to the prestigious National Institute of Circus Arts, where I had the honor of immersing myself in the refined art of hand balancing. Over the years, I have had the privilege of training under the guidance of renowned coaches from across the globe, including notable names such as Sascha Bachmann, Miguel, Denys Tolstov, My Lu, and Jing Jing.

 

As an individual who has traversed the handstand path for many years, I am intimately familiar with the frustrations and challenges that come with the journey. Consequently, I welcome the opportunity to assist and support those intrepid individuals who are on their own path to mastering this art.

Throughout my journey, I have both trained alongside and provided guidance to numerous individuals. I consider myself fortunate to now have the opportunity to foster a community where we can collectively learn and grow, supporting one another on our respective handstand journeys.

Hello, my name is Elissa Chrisson, and my life has been a rich tapestry woven with diverse and engaging experiences in the world of movement. Spending a transformative decade in India, I immersed myself in the practice and study of traditional yoga, connecting deeply with its ancient roots and profound teachings. This experience enriched my understanding of physical discipline and mental resilience, and it played a crucial role in shaping my approach to movement.

 

Beyond yoga, I found a thrilling challenge in the sport of rock climbing, where I tested my limits and embraced the physical and mental demands of the sport. Yet, my true and enduring passion lies in the art of hand balancing. This captivating practice, requiring a delicate balance of strength, stability, and focus, has been a consistent thread throughout my journey. I have learned from esteemed hand balancing teachers worldwide, each lesson propelling me further in my quest for mastery.

 

My story is a testament to the transformative power of dedication and passion, and I am eager to share my experiences, knowledge, and love for movement with others who are on their own journeys of exploration and discovery.
