28th MAY - 1st JUNE 2022

Discover Fraser Island

An island escape and spiritual journey. Fraser Island, at 122kms long, is the largest sand island in the world. Home to native Australian Dingoes, majestic remnants of tall rainforest and pristine inland freshwater lakes, Fraser is not just a dream holiday but a destination paradise.

YAMA adventures have the most comprehensive access to this stunning region.  Camping, yoga, movement and 4WD allows a self-driven experience to discover this wonderful island! At night, retreat to your own private campsite just metres from the beach by the fire with your fellow adventurers!

This trip entails a four-wheel-drive tag along adventure over shifting sand-dunes. You can either sit back and enjoy the ride or take the reins and choose to drive yourself, by having your own assigned four-wheel-drive for the adventure. Imagine this: Sand dunes, tropical rainforests, beautiful lakes, nutritious food, good conversation and a deep connection with nature.

We will journey into Pranayama breathwork, yoga, movement, arts, hiking, and camping. You will enjoy whole goodness foods that warm your heart and belly, and connect with like-minded souls in rich, fulfilling campfire conversation. If you are after a perfect blend of movement, nature, relaxation, conversation and adventure, this trip is for you.

You will leave this trip with a take-home toolbox of skills like movement, meditation, connectedness to earth, pearls of wisdom from intellectual conversation and a greater understanding of how to align your life path to your needs and desires. You will learn to deepen your intuition, find your own therapy, overcome your fears, identify your emotions and get to know and love yourself while sharing and connecting with like-minded souls. This trip is about connection - not just to nature, but to each other and to yourself.

You will eat clean food, create new healthy habits, explore body movement and enter into the subtle art of breathwork and meditation techniques. This retreat is equal part learning, exploring, and applying arts and movement to soothe your soul and see the world with a fresh set of eyes.

If you are a full license holder, you will have the chance to drive your own 4WD! Or, you can sit back and enjoy the ride. There are 5 people in a 4WD and three to four 4WDs on the adventure.

If you choose to drive, you will get a safety briefing and lessons on how to drive on the sand. We will explore the beautiful island of Fraser in the most adventurous and exciting ways with one lead vehicle driven by a professional guide who understands the tides and ins and outs of driving on Fraser Island. If you choose to drive your own 4WD, you will tag along following the main lead driver. This is a truly exhilarating way to explore Fraser Island - whether you’re driving or a passenger!

Yoga and Movement:

Each day there will be one yoga or movement class, and a night session of pranayama breathwork and meditation guided and taught by Elissa. We will explore yoga asana, acro yoga, primal movement, handstand and more. The class is for anyone from beginners to advanced level. Elissa will tailor the class based on the energy and level of the group and will provide variations to accommodate all fitness levels.

Each night we will close the day with a short sharing circle, yogic philosophy, theory lesson, breathwork exploring techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing, box breath, introduction into breath retention, tummo breathing, kapalbhati and sitali. This is followed by a guided meditation.

Please note: All classes take place outdoors. Exploring movement in the elements provides its own challenges and beauty.

There will be low impact hikes on the trip. You do not need to be an experienced hiker, just bring comfortable shoes and a love for the outdoors.
