GETTING THERE:

​

The nearest airport to the island is at Hervey Bay, which is served by Virgin Australia from Sydney and Melbourne, and Qantas Link from Brisbane. From Hervey Bay, there is a bus service to freedom beach.  Travelling by bus, both Greyhound Australia and Premier coaches offer daily services from Brisbane, Maroochydore and Cairns to Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.

ROAD TRIP - If you decided to drive there is plenty of free street parking. 

​

ACCOMMODATION:

 

One night at Freedom Rainbow Beach in a dorm and 3 nights in Comfortable Camping at Cathedrals On Fraser - beds and linen included)

​

PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 8 is required for this trip to go ahead, if minimum numbers are not reached you will be offered a full refund on your booking deposit.

AFTER THE TRIP

​

We will depart the island at around 1 pm and arrive back at Rainbow beach backpackers. You can book an extra night's accommodation at Rainbow Beach after the trip or book a bus back to the Hervey Bay  (www.rome2rio.com) there are normally 2 buses departing daily and range from $22 - $40 ( It is recommended that you check the bus schedule before booking return flights and book early for the Earlybird price)

DRIVING 4WD:

​

If you wish to be a driver you are required to hold a full licence. 

​

WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR :

Our trips are gender-inclusive, If you are young at heart and free-spirited you are perfect for our adventures! In saying this, the average age of our groups is 20-45 years old.

​

PLEASE PACK LIGHT :

​

Please note: We have limited space for bags, please bring a small soft duffle bag no bigger than 56cm x 36cm x 23cm for a point of reference this is about the standard luggage allowance for airline carry-on baggage. Any larger bags will not be accepted. If you wish to bring extra luggage for after the trip most hotels in Alice have luggage storage. ( Best to double-check with your selected accommodation).

SOMETHING DIFFERENT: 

 

Dress-ups are fun !! on all our trips we encourage our guests to play dress-ups. Please pack a funky little outfit thats not too big and bulky and fits the theme of radical self-expression. Bring your own artistic expression, maybe colour& brightness, black & darkness, cross-dressing or animal embodiment. Whatever fits your vibe. Perhaps you have always felt like a Dragon and that's what you want to embody, so be a dragon. Be bold, be fun and feel free to express this in your costume. 

​

 

PACKING LIST:

 

 Also please keep in mind that we have limited space in the trailer for luggage so try to pack as light as possible and opt for a duffle bag over a suitcase.

Our team brings along a basic first aid kit, but we recommend you also carry the following: Ibuprofen painkillers,  personal prescriptions as required, rash cream, basic toiletries, wet wipes, hand sanitiser, and women's sanitary.

DAY ONE

Tuna / Ham wraps with capers, yogurt, dijon mustard, walnuts, sultanas, and spinach.

 

Dinner 

Butternut Risotto with leeks and spinach with sage, garlic and nutmeg.


 

DAY THREE

Cranberry, Apple, and Banana granola with yogurt.

 

Lunch 

Veggie Burger with lettuce, tomato, beetroot and sriracha mayo.


 

Dinner 

Orecchiette pasta with broccoli sauce with spring onion, chilli, garlic, lemon, and miso.

DAY FOUR

 

Breakfast 

Turmeric smoothie bowl with coconut milk yogurt, cashew spread, banana, oats, and chia seeds. served with tea and coffee

 

 

Lunch 

Roasted vegetable and couscous salad with tomatoes, zucchini, garlic, and capsicum.

Dinner

Vegetable curry with butternut pumpkin, zucchini, capsicum, spinach, and peas.


 

DAY FIVE

Grapefruit, orange and rockmelon salad with honey and yogurt.

ITINERARY

​

Day 01 - RAINBOW BEACH 

 

cruisy start, roll into Rainbow Beach and for a 2 pm check-in at Freedom Rainbow Beach. Meet your new best friends and prepare your body and mind for the adventure ahead. We will kick off the experience with a yoga asana class. After class, we will make our way to the Carlo Sandblow for sunset. followed by a delicious restaurant dinner overlooking Rainbow beach. 

​

We spend this night in Rainbow beach and depart for Fraser (k'gari) in the morning.

 

Accommodation: Dorm Style Accommodation at Freedom Rainbow Beach

Day 02 - LAKE BIRRABEEN & LAKE MCKENZIE

 

We aim to depart Freedom Rainbow Beach for Fraser Island by 8:30 am (tides depending) which can take approximately 15 minutes to drive to the barge (ferry) and board for your 15-minute barge crossing. Once you have arrived on the world's largest sand island, venture inland along the circuit of the southern lake stopping at the spectacular blue inland Lake Birrabeen. Continue on the circuit of the southern lake to Central Station for a walk through the Rainforest and lunch before heading further inland to enjoy spectacular Lake McKenzie. 

 

Lake McKenzie is one of the most popular and picturesque highlights of Fraser where you can relax before heading back out onto the Eastern Beach to your campsite for the night. Settle in for an early dinner and marshmallows by the campfire.

Day 03 - ELI CREEK  & SHIPWRECK

​

The first stop is Eli Creek, a beautifully clear creek perfect for a relaxing swim. Then, travelling north, we stop at the Maheno Shipwreck for a photo opportunity and a short history lesson about this famous Fraser Island icon before continuing on to the Champagne Pools for a dip and lunch.

In the afternoon, travel back to camp for yoga & dinner.

Day 04 - LAKE ALLOM 

​

After breakfast, head to Lake Wabby, where you'll stride through the dunes to find a tropical paradise! You will then follow onto Lake Allom for some turtle spotting. In the afternoon, travel back to camp for yoga & dinner.

Day 05 - BACK TO BASE 

​

We will get up for Sunrise at the Pinnacles - a view that is hard to beat. We will have our final yoga/movement class followed by breakfast, then we will pack up camp and head south along 75 Mile Beach back to the barge ready to depart Fraser Island.
