Information

About this retreat:   YOGA / HIKING / CAMPING

This transformational experience helps you to explore your inner and outer environment, and reconnect with yourself, nature and the flow of life. Our trips are small boutiques and customised according to the group's desire.

The YAMA Movement

YAMA brings this five-day experience to life through the raw elements of dance, play and connection with your inner child. A conscious gathering with daily yoga and breathwork classes, with a fully certified yoga teacher and transformational breathwork coach.

Sleep under the stars, have rich and meaningful conversations around the fire at night, ecstatic dance at S.S Mahino shipwreck, and feel the earth under your feet. We encourage you to embark on this entire experience barefoot. The soft sand is kind on the feet, recharging your body and connecting you deeply with nature.

Share:  Bring your art, hobbies or unique gift and share it at this gathering. YAMA Is a space to express yourself through what brings you joy. Our community is about learning, sharing, Radical self-expression, music, flow toys, games, arts, singing, and dance—caring and connecting with each other and the natural world while discovering some of the world's most exotic locations.

4WD: If you are a full license holder, you will have the chance to drive your own 4WD! Or, you can sit back and enjoy the ride. There are 5 people in a 4WD and two to three 4WDs on the adventure.

If you choose to drive, you will get a safety briefing and lessons on how to drive on the sand. We will explore the beautiful island of Fraser in the most adventurous and exciting ways with one lead vehicle driven by a professional guide who understands the tides, and ins and outs of driving on the Island. If you choose to drive your own 4WD, you will tag along following the main lead driver. This is a truly exhilarating way to explore the Island - whether you’re driving or a passenger!

Yoga breathwork & Movement: Each day there will be one yoga or movement class, and a night session of pranayama breathwork and meditation guided and taught by Elissa. We will explore yoga asana, acro yoga, primal movement, handstand and more. The class is for anyone from beginners to advanced level. Elissa will tailor the class based on the energy and level of the group and will provide variations to accommodate all fitness levels.

Explore breathwork techniques such as transformational breathwork led by Anna, diaphragmatic breathing, box breath, introduction to breath retention, tummo breathing, Kapalbhati and Sitali, followed by a guided meditation. Elissa has an in-depth knowledge of yogic philosophy and is open to conversations and lessons for those who want to learn more.

Dress-ups: If you follow the @yamamovement insta, you will know that we love dress-ups. On all our trips, we encourage our guests to play dress-ups. Please pack a funky little outfit thats not too big and bulky and fits the theme of radical self-expression. Bring your own artistic expression, maybe colour& brightness, black & darkness, cross-dressing or animal embodiment. Whatever suits your vibe. Perhaps you have always felt like a Dragon, and that's what you want to embody, so be a dragon. Be bold, be fun and feel free to express yourself through costume.

Hiking: There will be low-impact hikes on the trip. You do not need to be an experienced hiker; most of the hikes on the trip are in the spectacular rolling sand dunes, so we welcome earthing - barefoot walking. Take off your shoes and connect with the earth.
